How to decorate and lay the table? I have one word to describe it; Maximise. Decorate with your favourite Christmas ornaments, thrift find cutlery, vintage glasses and mums porcelain. Napkins must be linen. This is the festive meal of the year -you can be contemporary and minimal the other 364 days of the year. Indulge!

What to drink? This is the night for champagne (Bollinger that is!). If you are no fan of the bubbly drink, why not consider making one of my favourite drinks, a fruity Bellini? Most importantly -zip the celebratory drink of your favourite glasses. We love the Riedel series. But old style saucer glasses are back in fashion and will ad a glamorous touch to your celebration.

What to serve? Make sure to have some finger food ready, mini tarts etc. Prepare a lovely meal, preferable something that goes in the oven so you have more time to get ready. But most importantly, serve the most delicious dessert. You can’t go wrong with a classic pannacotta, served with warm berry compote and a tiny bit of chocolate. That’s what they’ll remember of the meal!
